Resort Description

Step through the etched glass doors of the Nob Hill Inn and be transported back to the golden age of San Francisco. Built in 1907 as a private home, the Nob Hill Inn has been lovingly restored to maintain the ambience of a turn-of-century townhouse. It's twenty-one guest rooms and suites are furnished with hand-picked antiques - beautifully carved chairs, armoires inlaid with exotic woods, graceful four poster of brass beds.

The room was charmingly decorated and very clean and looked out on San Francisco. It was rebuilt after the fire in 1907 but nicely upgraded. Service in our room for breakfast was prompt and pleasant. The staff was very helpful and accommodated our guest nicely. We had a wonderful experience.

The afternoon tea and sherry in the parlor, the "lift", the antique furniture and decor and the convenient location at Pine and Taylor gave us the feeling of being a resident of San Fransisco long, long ago.We enjoyed riding the cable cars, dining at Rue Lepic, The Nob Hill Cafe, and Scoma's. We were also able to attend the Saulsalito Art Festival ( via ferry )where Kenny Loggins was performing, saw a bit of the circus performance at union square along with free popcorn and cotton candy!

We especially enjoyed the tea, sherry and refreshments served daily in the resort lobby and the opportunity this provided to meet other guests. The resort's location--one block from the top of Nob Hill, near Union Square and other attractions--was ideal.

The Nob Hill Inn is not a typical resort, but a very cozy inn centrally located in San Francisco. Restaurants and shopping, as well as tour opportunities were within comfortable walking distance or available at either end of the cable car route. The decor was beautifully done in Victorian style. The staff were friendly and helpful.
